The Shoe-Horn Sonata by John Misto and directed by Heather Mactavish The Shoe-Horn Sonata is the story of Bridie Cartwright, a young Australian Army nurse and Sheila Richards, an English schoolgirl, who endured three-and-a-half years as prisoners of the Japanese after the fall of Singapore in 1942. While the characters of Bridie and Sheila are fictional, all the stories they tell are true and have been collected by the playwright from women who actually lived through that terrible time.
